Bev Knight, Chairperson

bknight@telus.net

Bev is an artist, teacher and alumni member and The Art Studios.  It was because of her passionate belief in the program that she founded the Vancouver Recovery Through Art Society.  Her previous careers include Computer Programming, Systems Analysis and Office Management.  But her love for art has been a life-long vocation.

Ann Webborn, Vice Chair

Occupational Therapist. Despite being sonewhat retired, Ann has worked at The Art Studios since its inception in 1992, where she teaches Beginners and Intermediate Printmaking.  Ann strongly believes in the benefits of making art and being part of an art community for individuals with a mental illness and/or addictions.

Pearl Martin, Secretary

Pearl is a participant at The Art Studios where she teaches Art & Creativity.  She is an expert potter as well as manager of her compnay, Green Tea Services.

Kerry Smith, Treasurer

Kerry is a Wealth Management Consultant who has witnessed the power of The Art Studios in recovery.

Dr. Ron Gibson, MD, FRCPC, DTM&H, Director

Ron is a Clinical Associate Professor of Psychiatry at UBC, is in private practice, as well as travels regularly to Haida Gwaii to see patients for Vancouver Coastal Health.

Laura Smith, Director

Laura has taught mixed media at The Art Studios. Community involvement has always been an important aspect in her life. The wonderful community of artists at The Art Studios has inspired her to contribute to such an important cause.

Cynthia Bouchard, Director

Cynthia works for Courts Administration Services as Director, Management Services. She believes in giving back to the community and has been part of multiple fundraising campaigns.  She has a passion for wellness and mental health, and believes that each and everyone can reach their full potential through hope and transformational initiatives like The Art Studios.

Annalies Camfferman, Director

Annalies is a retired psychiatric nurse dedicated to creating a vibrant arts scene in Vancouver. She is a recipient of the Mayor’s Arts Awards, an avid volunteer, and a member of the Cultch’s Board of Directors. Her support for Vancouver Recovery Through Art is a perfect combination of her interest in art and former career in mental health.

Colleen McNeil, Webmaster

Colleen, an artist, Photographer, Writer and Instructor at The Art Studios, is an Alumni Member and a Founding Board Member of Vancouver Recovery Through Art.  She also heads the Fundraising team for the Annual Silent Auction that takes place at The Art Studios’ Annual Winter Sale. She “lives to paint and paints to live, to keep from going crazier”.
